Jennifer Clifton is the founder of Clifton Cannabis Law, LLC. Jennifer is a skilled corporate lawyer with the heart of an entrepreneur. Her career spans several industries and includes working for national law firms and serving as in-house counsel. She has started two businesses of her own, one of which attracted attention from Oprah Winfrey, USA Today, People Magazine and The New York Times.
Jennifer’s background as an entrepreneur combined with her vast legal experience in corporate transactional law and securities law uniquely positions her as an invaluable resource for any entrepreneur. For a number of years, Jennifer has advised and represented entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey and has particularly enjoyed her Cannabis-business clients.

Stephanie Marshall is Of Counsel with Clifton Cannabis Law. She is a land use, real estate and transactional attorney licensed in Oregon and Washington state. For nearly 25 years, she has successfully represented property owners seeking to navigate governmental regulations to obtain approvals required to develop and use land for desired purposes. Stephanie has a unique understating of litigation related to the permitting process, having appeared and argued before local hearings officers, state and federal administrative agencies, and appellate courts.
Stephanie’s background includes over 15 years practicing for nationally-based law firms, and 5 years serving as a hearings officer experienced in review and enforcement of local property-related regulations. She has represented clients with respect to business formation and contractual disputes and has assisted property owners obtain operational and development permits in the face of stringent community opposition.
Stephanie graduated from Willamette University College of Law with honors in 1993. After practicing law in the Seattle area until 2006, she moved to Bend and has enjoyed the vast recreational amenities of the Bend area since then.
Bethany is a Senior Assoicate with Clifton Cannabis Law, bringing to the team nine years of litigation and commercial transaction experience in Hawaii to focus on the trademark, commercial, and litigation needs of the firm’s clientele. She was born in Hawaii, raised in Maryland, and educated in Michigan. Bethany obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Honors Psychology in 2003 from the University of Michigan.
After graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in 2005, Bethany returned to Hawaii and began practicing in homeowner association and collections law. She transitioned into litigation with an associated practice in commercial and business transactions, working for prominent firms such as Chun Kerr, LLP, and Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert. Her practice in Hawaii was diverse, litigating everything from admiralty to will contests, with her primary focus in the areas of commercial disputes, land use and development, condominium law, and complex foreclosure and collection matters. When she was not wearing her litigator’s hat, Bethany would serve the needs of her firm’s business, real estate, and corporate clients, preparing advisory opinions, business contracts, land use and conveyance documents, and other transactional documents. She earned a reputation as a strong legal researcher, persuasive writer, and effective counselor and negotiator. She was active in her bar association and legal community, as chair of the Appellate Section, a contributing author to bar practice manuals, and an organizer or a presenter at local seminars.
Being a seasoned litigator and transactional attorney, Bethany knows how to draft the documents needed by her business clients and mitigate the risks and pitfalls that could lead to disputes down the road. She sees the big picture and the details. She brings to Clifton Cannabis Law a passion and determination to provide excellent service and results for her clients coupled with her deep understanding of the law and unflagging drive to learn more. She always strives to be your best advocate and advisor, delivered with a smile and often a dose of her quirky and corny sense of humor. She is excited to be working in such a unique and evolving area of law and to join a dynamic, fun, and seasoned team. Bethany is licensed in Oregon (active) and Hawaii (inactive, voluntary).
Bethany moved to Bend in late 2015 and quickly made this beautiful town her home. In her free time, you’ll find Bethany on the trails, in her garden, creative writing, or exploring the arts and music scenes of Bend. Bethany is the proud guardian of two rescued pups, Erie and Magnificent Ponderosa, and a rescued cat, Bailey.
Susan joins Clifton Cannabis Law as the new Paralegal. With 25 years of experience in corporate and securities law. She has worked with in-house legal teams for both private and public companies as well as two Silicon Valley law firms. Susan’s experience includes incorporations, venture financings, public offerings, stock option administration, trademark filings and contract management. She has worked closely with many boards, preparing agendas and keeping minutes.
Susan also spent three years as a volunteer with a non-profit organization in Kenya, which provided a home and education for HIV/AIDS orphans. Susan moved to central Oregon in 2016 and has been enjoying a healthier life balance.
Amanda La Bell
Amanda La Bell is the Business Development and Marketing Director at Clifton Cannabis Law, LLC. Amanda’s background includes over 20 years in marketing, advertising and business management at the largest national real estate and vacation ownership companies. Her most recent endeavor was starting a non-profit focusing on underprivileged children in Central Oregon.
Amanda was born in the United Kingdom to U.S. military parents and raised all throughout the United States eventually calling Florida her home. Amanda graduated from Valdosta State University in 1999 with a BA in Music, Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre Production. She moved to Bend in 2017 with her husband, 3 children, 2 cats and 1 dog.
